Reliable Detection of Black-on-Black Contrasts
At this year‘s Tire Technology Expo in Hanover, Erhardt+Leimer, a leading supplier of components and systems for the automation of production machines and quality assurance in tire production, will present some new products from the area of inspection and measuring technology.
Among other innovations, there will be a camera application called „Black-on-Black (EL-BOB)“ for reliable detection of web edges with minimum contrast, which for example occur with tire material strips on black conveyor belts, laminated strips, ridges and grooves. The position values provided by the camera can then be used e.g. for measuring the width of the innerliner or sidewall, for the final check after doubling or for web guiding in the tire building machine; here, guiding by a minimum groove or by a GI stripe is possible.
EL-BOB is a "stand-alone" application with Web-Based Management (WBM): commissioning and the creation of recipes is possible via a graphical user interface on site or via the Internet using remote maintenance. Only a web browser is required for this purpose (communication with the customer’s PLC is of course possible, too). In addition, the Web-Based Management offers a monitoring function with 2D images.
The software compensates deviations in the thickness of the material without reducing the accuracy of the measurement. An encoder is used to synchronize the camera with the production machine, making it possible to evaluate the footage at any time.
The software will be presented at an exhibition for the first time, however it has already been used successfully by some major tire manufacturers for some time.
Apart from the Black-on-Black software, E+L will showcase further inspection solutions, among them systems for profile, thickness and EPI measuring, and the highly dynamic, brushless AG 9 actuating drive from the automation technology sector.
The Erhardt+Leimer stand is in hall 21, stand 9030.
